Spiced Apple Cider Donuts

Ingredients

For the Donuts:

  • 1 ½ cups apple cider (reduced to ½ cup)
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup Healthy Heights Kidz Protein (Vanilla)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • ½ cup buttermilk

For the Topping:

  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 Tbsp cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp Healthy Heights Kidz Protein
  • 4 Tbsp melted butter

Instructions:

  1. Reduce the Apple Cider: Simmer the cider on the stove until it reduces to ½ cup, then let it cool.
  2. Mix the Batter: In one bowl, whisk flour, Kidz Protein, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. In another, mix sugars, egg, vanilla, buttermilk, and reduced cider. Combine the wet and dry ingredients.
  3. Bake the Donuts: Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease a donut pan, fill it ¾ full with batter, and bake for 10–12 minutes.
  4. Add the Topping: Mix sugar, cinnamon, and Kidz Protein. Brush warm donuts with melted butter and roll in the topping mixture.
